
Rural Livelihoods Development Program(RLDP) is implementing at villages of Dahiwadi block of Satara district of Maharashtra by the AFARM with the financial support of Cummins India. Project helps the communities and individual farmers to increase the production, sales and revenues for crops and livestock. Activities include introduction of new technologies and practices, improved management approaches, new varieties of crops and livestock. To introduce these new approaches, the project helps set up and train community organizations, mutual marketing organizations, and farmers marketing collectives. To help communities increase the value of their products, the project train farmers how to grade, package, pack, and market their products, helps to find better paying markets, and trains farmers how to work with buyers and suppliers to increase revenues and profits. The project also seeks to increase the participation of women in income-earning activities, supports the development of provincial agricultural policies and legal and regulatory framework for market led and community driven investment.
FARMERS FIELD DAY ON KHARIP CROPPING SYSTEM, DIESEAS AND SOIL HEALTH
Introduction:
Rural Livelihoods Development Project organized a Farmers Field Day on Kharip Cropping System, Dieses and Soil Health to community members of different villages of Dahiwadi block of Satara district in Maharashtra.
Objective of workshop:
The overall objective of the training programme is to adopt the best cropping practices at their farm and village level to enhance the sustainability and maximize the impact in their yield production.
• To introduce the Kharip cropping system and various crops taken in kharip with the participant basic knowledge.
• To increase the knowledge of participants on soil health management and how to increase the productivity of soil using natural composting resources.
• To build the capacity of farmer participant on implementing actions to resolve the problems related to use of seed, natural compost & pesticides with its practical demo preparation along with the possibility of disease to the kharip crops.
• Also describes and suggest new techniques agricultural tools and machineries for use.
Target Group:
The target group of the Farmers Day workshop are village farmers and individuals directly related to the agriculture. But can also be extended to district level as relevant and appropriate.
Expected Outcomes:
At the end of the day participants would have acquired the skills and competencies to prepare kharip crops management plan and will have understood the seed selection, soil health management, and pesticides and insecticides will be use.
